Bill Holmes - Activities - Hiking and Biking - Minnetonka Cave

After leaving West Yellowstone, I arrived at Bear Lake in Idaho where a road headed west and advertised the Minnetonka Cave. This cave was formed by a river drained an ancient ocean.  Thirty minute drive east from highway 89 at St. Charles, $5 entry fee, guided tours only, last tour at 5:30 PM, wear no clothing that was used in a cave within three months.

Ribbon stalagtite.

Part of this stalagmite was broken by an earthquake.

Hibernating bat.

Another hibernating bat.

Porcupine bones found in cave.

This formation is found only in this cave.

End of cave phallic symbol.

Unusual shapes.

Ice near the entrance/exit.

I continued south on 89 to the Bear Lake WorldMark factility.
