Mid-way between Belmopan and San Ignacio, the Lower Dover Field Station is close to Cahal Pech, Xunatunich and Actum Tunichil Nuknal (ATM) ruins, a butterfly farm, nature and medicine trails, cave tubing and the zip lines at Calico Jacks. It is also a reasonable drive to the Tikal ruins in Guatamala.

Lower Dover is a 99-acre jungle preserve bordered the Macal River and Barton Creek, which has a resident tapir. A corner was cleared for the Field Station comprised of a main house, kitchen, dining and game buildings and elevated sleeping cabins. Wide trails have been cleared for exploring the preserve which is dotted by the mounds of Mayan ruins.

Riding with proprietor Madeline Reynolds on her errands and shopping for the fresh ingredients for the great meals she prepares is one way to experience San Ignacio. In the relaxed atmosphere of Lower Dover one quickly becomes oblivious to the calendar.

Driveway into Field Station cleared area of 99 acres of jungle called Lower Dover purchased by the Reynolds for $30K. All of their belongings were shipped by freight forwarder Joseph Freight Services, 144 Benque Viejo Road, Cayo, +501-601-5578, FAX +501-824-2737, which collects things from across the nation for packing in a shipping containers, and delivery to Belize via Guatamala (cheaper port of entry).
