Bill Holmes - Activities - Hiking and Biking - Central America - Costa Rica day 1
El Salvador to Costa Rica
Cell phone accessory salesman
Shirts, banners and tickets for the regional soccer match finals this evening were popular. Panasonic and other business names are prominent on team jerseys.
View from sliding door of the house of Carla's step father, Carlos. He designed it.
Backyard preserving existing trees while providing a level yard reflects the approach of Carlos, which is evident throughout the house. Carlos worked for the petroleum industry before founding his own company to clean petroleum well water. His efforts put him in the upper middle class of Costa Rica. He is a three-dimensional modern artist as well. Photos and videos of his house, his art and the birthday party of Carla's mother are available upon request.
Modern freeway to coast from San Jose
Freeway design, construction and maintenance are funded by tolls that run around a $1 US at each booth. A transmitter on the car allows automatic processing and roll-through service to be envied by USA drivers.
Jungles are more hilly here than in Belize
My driver, Carla and guides, Max and Emi at the artist loft of Carlos, the stepfather of Carla. Carla is Melody's step granddaughter. Note the gecko mouth and eyes on the left. They are part of a larger mural that includes a flutterby - the interest of the gecko. The loft was similarly impressive architecture and filled with equally impressive art. Photos are available upon request.
On a retaining wall was a micro-wasp nest
The loft overlooks a river
Trail to river
View of river from terrace
View of river from bottom of trail
Panoramic view from upper floor balcony the next morning
Now for the five hour drive to a northern beach favorite of those in San Jose.
