Last days
Mel had to leave a day early to catch her flight in Cancun to the USA. I had to leave a day late to avoid a layover in San Salvador airport.

Pirates recently moved and adopted a new name, so they had to get a new liquor license ($s for government), so it was a bring your own Booze situation until the government was paid-off. The market next door make wine selection convenient. We were tired of rice, potatoes and salad for side dishes, so when we delivered our wine to be chilled, we asked the restaurant if they would prepare any vegetables we brought. The agreed, so we bought spinach, green beans and carrots at a local market, and delivered them to the restaurant an hour before dinner. Mel also asked that her favorite table be reserved for our last supper together in Caye Caulker.

Mel loves lobster
On 15 December we walk by the island power station
and arrive at the dock on time at 6:45 AM to learn that the ferry had mechanical problems. Mel's trip to Chetumal via San Pedro was delayed an hour until another boat could be provided. It was cold and windy, so Mel boarded first to get a seat in the cabin.
The boat was full, so the last to arrive was happy he was allowed on board
This water taxi works the west dock. The dock hand said he couldn't wait until the scowl sank, because at $500,000, it would never sell.

After getting a shore taxi to the AVO bus terminal, Mel's arrival in Playa del Carmen would be later than desired (near dark). It was safer and less expensive to stay there rather than stay in a hotel in Cancun. On 16 December she would take a van to the airport.
I spent 15 and 16 December in the room processing photos during inclimate weather. I slept for much of the 15th, and ventured out only to buy food from the market to supplement my green goo and dried fruit. On 16 December I caught some rays on the rental lounges through broken clouds. There was a parade for reasons unknown.
On 17 December I boarded a water taxi with Juni. He had to travel to Belize City to deal with the government of which there are four levels ... all demanding their cut.
