Recirculating Sluice System Evolution

Second Field Test

Loading van for second field test. Got 5-gallon containers for free from metal recycling center. Each weighs 41.75 pounds when full of water.

The metal detector is in the blue suitcase. Solar panels are in the black case. Tub and screen are on left. Sluice, baskets, etc. are in the khakie bag.

Returned for buckets, shovel, panning tub and pump.

Conducted the second field test where the same seasonal creek crosses the California Aqueduct. Dug in the impact side. Very difficult digging with rocks tightly packed.

Charging batteries with solar panels.

Looking east.  Van is on aqueduct.

Looking south.

After processing nearly all of the dug dirt.

Baskets sometimes overflowed into the hole in the screen through which the pump protruded. Tub was full of silt. Need to protect pump from abrasives.

Refilled and compacted hole during clean-up.

Don't want those imaginary tortoises to fall in any holes.
